He is God, and He Demonstrated His Love for you.

Jesus taught that He was God and man. That is what it means for Him to be the Son of God. He clearly demonstrated that He was both God and man. He, as God the Word became human flesh so that you could have a perfect blood sacrifice to wash your sins away. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1) “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) How did He become human flesh? He was born of a virgin! “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23) “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

He died and rose again to pay for your sins.

In God’s Word He tells us that everyone is a sinner except His Beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” (Ecclesiastes 7:20) “Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) All of this means that you are a sinner in need of the only Saviour. The sinless Lord Jesus Christ died in your place to pay for your sins as your substitute. He took all of your past, present and future sins upon Himself. Being sinless He was qualified to do this. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21) “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)

He desires to come into your life and save you

The Lord Jesus Christ said, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” (Mark 1:15) The Apostle Paul, God’s servant, describes his preaching ministry in Acts 20:21, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” God wants everyone to be saved from death and Hell. He is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9b) “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4) It is clear from what God has said that He wants you to be saved. The Lord Jesus Christ wants to be your personal Saviour. The gospel is good news! It is described in the Bible as the death, burial and resurrection of JESUS. He did it for you!

why do i have to be saved in order to go to heaven and have a personal relationship with god?

In Exodus 20 God gave the Children of Israel the Ten Commandments. One reason for giving the Law was to teach people that they are guilty sinners before God. “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” (Romans 3:19) Another reason for giving the law was to teach that a Saviour is needed, and to bring people to Him. “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” (Galatians 3:24-25) Did you know that God never intended people to get saved by keeping the law? “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians 2:16) Salvation can’t be obtained by working for it. He offers salvation to you as a free gift. He paid for it all so that there is nothing left for you to pay. Are you guilty? Are you sorry for sinning against Almighty God, your Creator? “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:” (2 Corinthians 7:10) If so, repent and believe the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the good news of His bloody death, burial and resurrection for you. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9,10, 13) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
